Adrift Every Woman: Jamie-Lee Jackson

Adrift Every Woman: Jamie-Lee Jackson

We think every office needs (and deserves) someone that is lighthearted and brings joy to the every day (even on the busiest of days!) At Adrift that person is the beautiful Jamie-Lee Jackson, our wholesale accounts and operations guru.  As a born-and-bred country girl, Jamie is down-to-earth and full of hilarious puns that give us all a good giggle!

You may have spoken to Jamie in person, as she often goes on the road to meet our lovely stockists.  But if you haven't met this pocket-rocket in person, here is a little insight into one of the lights of our Adrift lives.

For those headed to the Life in Style Tradeshow in Sydney from February 22nd to 25th, make sure you pop in to the Adrift stand to say 'hello' to Jamie.

Let's introduce you to Jamie:

Name: Jamie-Lee Jackson

Age: 27 in a few weeks

Profession: I am a part of Adrift’s Wholesale team; I mainly control the accounts and general operations.

Describe yourself in three words: Loud, funny and (slightly) crazy.

What makes you tick? People who do whatever the hell they want with their life,
regardless of the pay cheque.

What are you most passionate about? Travel; I would live out of a suitcase if I
could.

What do you think are the most important issues for women currently? Sexual violence and exploitation.

What advice would you give to your ‘15 year old self’? Don’t sweat the small stuff.

What is the biggest change you’ve seen in your lifetime? The world of technology and the rise of social media.

How has that impacted your world? I was probably lucky to see out my teenage years sans smart phone; the most tech savvy thing about my Nokia was that you could change the cover! But it is frightening to see young people use social media as a way to exploit their bodies and each other, yet as a society we continue to give them platforms to do so.

What are you most proud of in your life? I have crossed about 20 countries (and
counting) off my travel list so far. Discovering a new destination is truly
something that brings me so much joy.

Tell us something that people might not know about you? I am a very open book! I
don’t tend to leave much to mystery.

What did you want to be when you grew up? It changed every 5 minutes! A travel
agent, an air hostess, I believe even a teacher at one point…

What is a piece of advice or quote that has really stuck with you? Someone I knew from my home town passed recently, and before she died she wrote the most
powerful goodbye letter on Facebook which has since gone viral. I wasn’t aware
words could evoke so much emotion. It was a true reminder that every day isn’t
a right, but a precious and unpredictable gift.

Why is it important for brands to create clothing to suit all types of women? I think brands like Adrift are using clothing as the tool behind a more powerful movement; unifying women from all corners through a shared love of fashion is a pretty amazing thing.

Why do you think it is important for women to feel confident about how they look?  Having a positive relationship with your body is paramount to living a healthy life-both physically and mentally. Confidence starts from within, but it is very hard to maintain if you don’t love what is looking back at you in the mirror.

What difference do you think it makes to a woman when she feels confident about herself? A confident woman possesses the ability to make change happen and
that is a powerful thing!

Can you identify women that you feel are great examples or role models? I think it is really important to draw inspiration from the women around you in your day-to- day life. I am lucky to work alongside some talented and influential women. They are creative, they are intelligent, some of them are amazing Mums, some can speak a second
language. At the end of the day I think the most important thing to aspire to is to be a good and wholesome person and surrounding yourself with likeminded people will ensure that.

Jamie's little list of loves

What is your regular coffee or tea order? Cappuccino, usually twice daily.

What is the last thing you do before going to bed at night? Usually lay in bed and
chat to my fiancé Levi about our days at work.

What do you do to wind down each day? A long hot shower and a good belly
laugh.

How do you ‘move your body’? My Adrift family will attest to the fact I am not
very motivated in the exercise department! I move my body pretty fast to the café next door for a daily croissant though…

Favourite playlist or podcast? Right now I am attempting to create the perfect
dance floor playlist for my wedding reception. My friends really like to party, so I have been trawling through Spotify for the best party-starting tunes. My poor fiancé is so over it.

Where do you go for inspiration? The beach.

What is your morning ritual? I usually sleep in until the very last minute before
the mad rush to the office!

What are you reading at the moment? A lonely planet book on Japan - not exactly
awe-inspiring…

What do you like to get up to of a weekend? I go to the beach every single
weekend without fail and it helps to set the tone for my coming week.

Favourite holiday spot? Bali – I’ve been more times that I can count. I’ve just
returned from a week in Canggu and Ubud.

Next holiday destination? To Japan for my honeymoon in April!
